Animations with Sound

Finding sounds to use was not difficult at all because we chose to go with coordinating the actions with the sounds as they'd be in real life... or at least most of it. Adding our own recording voices was fun.  The most difficult part was figuring out how to delete the movie track, but after some attempts we figured it out.

Our theme was the reality and fantasy side of humans consuming resources.  Now that we added motion to the two sides of the diptych, we developed a more humorous approach rather than a serious, political approach.  The jumping movements and display of life and death are not as serious as they was before.

Reading One: The Work of Art in the Age of Mechanical Reproduction

Question One:  Section III:  Is the article saying any form of reproduction will distort the aura of an image perceived in person?  And is there any form of reproduction that could capture the depth exactly as is, with three dimensional technology now?

Question Two:  Section IV:  Couldn't the function of reproducing a work of art merely be considered as a way to project to the world the message that piece is portraying instead of "the total function [being] reversed..." from ritual to politics, as the article says?

Diptych Project

Going along the lines of fantasy and reality, Megan and I chose to depict the relationship of humanity and nature.  This diptych shows how through humanity’s greed we fantasize about limitless resources.  However, on the other side, we convey the reality that humans are over consuming the planet’s resources.  We threw in some irony with Michelangelo’s painting in the Sistine Chapel.  We used his figure of God to depict his displeasure with humanity’s destructive behavior.
